FAQ
Is my GeoJSON uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser. Your data stays on your device.
What GeoJSON inputs do you accept?
FeatureCollection, a single Feature, or a geometry object. GeometryCollection is supported too. Geometry objects are wrapped into a single Feature for export.
What is inside the KMZ file?
A minimal KMZ ZIP that contains one file at the root called doc.kml.
Why do I sometimes get many placemarks?
If Split placemarks is enabled, MultiPoint, MultiLineString, MultiPolygon, and GeometryCollection are split into multiple placemarks.
Can I control placemark names?
Yes. Choose index-based names, names from a GeoJSON property key (with fallback to index), or no names.
Do you preserve GeoJSON properties and styles?
Properties are included, but KMZ and KML viewers often treat fields as strings, so complex values may be stringified. Styling and advanced KML features are not preserved.
What CRS does KMZ and KML expect?
KML expects WGS84 longitude and latitude (EPSG:4326). GeoJSON does not reliably include CRS. If your coordinates are projected, reproject before converting.
What happens to invalid features?
Features without a valid geometry are skipped. The tool shows how many were skipped so you can spot bad features.
Can I preview the result?
Yes. The map preview shows the normalized GeoJSON that was used to generate the KML inside the KMZ.
