Shapefile to WKB Converter — free & private

Drop a zipped ESRI Shapefile and get WKB or EWKB (hex/base64) instantly. Runs fully in your browser.

FAQ

Is my Shapefile uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and WKB generation run locally in your browser. Your data stays on your device.
What should be inside the .zip?
At minimum: .shp + .dbf, and ideally .shx too. A .prj file helps detect the coordinate system. All files should share the same base name and be included in the ZIP.
What is WKB and what is it used for?
WKB is the binary geometry format used by many databases and GIS tools. It is common in PostGIS, GeoPackage workflows, and internal geometry pipelines.
WKB vs EWKB, what is the difference?
EWKB is an extended WKB that can include an SRID. Enable “Include SRID” to export EWKB, which is often what PostGIS expects when you want the SRID embedded.
Do you reproject coordinates for me?
Only in one case. If the .prj indicates Web Mercator (EPSG:3857), you can enable the built-in 3857 to 4326 reprojection. Otherwise we keep coordinates as-is. Reproject in QGIS or ArcGIS if you need a specific CRS.
Does this export one WKB per feature?
No. This tool combines all features into a single geometry (MultiPoint, MultiLineString, MultiPolygon, or a GeometryCollection). If you need one WKB per row, use Shapefile → CSV with a WKT column, or export per-feature in your GIS.
What does “Only keep Polygon / MultiPolygon” do?
It filters the input to polygons only and skips points and lines. If you get an empty output after filtering, disable it or check that your Shapefile layer actually contains polygons.
Hex vs Base64, which should I choose?
Hex is common for SQL and debugging because it is readable and copy-friendly. Base64 is smaller and often nicer for APIs. The underlying geometry bytes are the same.
