Shapefile to CSV Converter — free & private

Upload a zipped Shapefile and export CSV with attributes + optional WKT geometry, centroid/area/bbox, and topology stats. Runs fully in your browser — no uploads.

FAQ

Is my Shapefile uploaded to a server?
No. Parsing and CSV generation run locally in your browser. Your data stays on your device.
What exactly should be inside the .zip?
At minimum: .shp + .dbf + .shx for a single layer. Optional: .prj. All files should share the same base name and sit at the top level of the ZIP (not nested in multiple folders).
My ZIP contains multiple layers — what happens?
If your ZIP contains multiple Shapefiles, you’ll see a Layer dropdown. Pick the layer you want to export and we’ll generate the CSV from that layer only.
What does “Centroid-only” vs “Full schema” mean?
Centroid-only produces a simpler table for quick review and joining (one row per feature). Full schema exports the full attributes plus optional geometry (WKT), bbox columns, and topology stats.
Does the CSV include geometry or just attributes?
Both are supported. You can include a WKT geometry column, bbox columns, and (for polygons) useful topology stats like vertex counts / holes. If you disable geometry options, you’ll still get the attribute columns.
Are area/centroid/bbox values accurate if my data is not WGS84?
They are computed in the layer’s coordinates as-is. If your layer is in degrees (lon/lat), “area” won’t be meaningful in square meters. Reproject to a meter-based CRS before exporting if you need real-world area/length metrics.
Why is there a row limit and when should I disable it?
Big layers can freeze the tab (memory + CSV string building). The row limit keeps the UI responsive. Disable it only when you truly need a full export and your file is reasonably sized.
Why do I see “No geometries found” or missing rows?
We only export features that actually have a geometry. If a layer has null/empty geometry records, those will be skipped. If your geometries are invalid (self-intersections, broken rings), fix them in the editor/validator and export again.
